A homeowner had started converting a garage addition into a living space but stalled out mid-project — leaving a partial foundation and a roof with nothing in between. I was brought in to take it from there.
The existing roof created an immediate problem: there was no way to get an excavator under it to remove the earth needed to complete the foundation. So I dug it out by hand — pick, shovel, and wheelbarrow — in July, in 100-degree heat. Once the excavation was done I poured the remaining foundation, built the floor system, framed the walls, installed the windows, and got the structure fully dried in.
Small project, straightforward scope — once you've dealt with the part nobody wanted to deal with.
